A single mom of 2, Shelley is a supermom. Her son Luke has cerebral palsy. He has a tracheotomy and a feeding tube. Due to COVID-19, most of the nurses that used to help so that Shelley could work could no longer come, making it impossible for Shelley to work more than a couple of days per week. Luke is wheelchair bound and requires 24-hour care, so Shelley runs on little to no sleep. To make matters worse, in 2019, Luke got very sick and nearly passed away. He spent October through January in the hospital where he received his tracheotomy.
This is the story of many in Metro Detroit, especially during 2020, and we were so happy to be able to brighten one of those families’ Christmas this year.
